Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow are always a family affair.

Sure there are plenty of celebrity mothers and daughters that make a living off of starring in movies, but there are only a handful that have actually starred in movies together. This is a look at some of our favorite celebrity mothers and daughters that have duplicated their real-life relationships in movies, using their shared DNA (and talent) to ensure that the audience feels the familial fidelity (or lack thereof):

Maureen O'Sullivan and Mia Farrow in 'Hannah and Her Sisters' (1986) - This is one of the pairs of celebrity mothers and daughters here who had quite different careers. Mother Maureen O'Sullivan was a glamour goddess most well-known for playing Jane in the Tarzan movies, while waifish, pixie-like Mia Farrow is most remembered for playing the mother of the devil's child in 'Rosemary's Baby' and for her relationship with director Woody Allen. But before he made headlines by marrying Mia's adopted daughter Soon-Yi (who has an uncredited role in 'Hannah and Her Sisters'), Woody Allen was directing his former leading lady and her mother in one of his best movies about family dynamics and dysfunction. Maureen plays an actress and matriarch of a family made up of three very different daughters, with Mia as the titular child. Unfortunately, the showbiz success she shares with her mother and her seeming perfection doesn't make for a perfect marriage, and, ironically, her husband pursues one of her own family members in the film. When it comes to celebrity mothers and daughters in the movies, you won't find a more successful pair than these two (although there's another real-life relationship here I bet Mia Farrow would love to forget).

Lela Rogers and Ginger Rogers in 'The Major and the Minor' (1942) - Ginger Rogers' mother Lela only had a minor role in 'The Major and the Minor', but it's still fun to see the script and screenplay writer in her only movie appearance. This is one wild and wacky movie, with Ginger Rogers' grown-up character getting all caught up in a lie that she's twelve years old in order to procure cheaper bus fare (and she eventually falls in love with a Major who completely misses her minor fib). Not only does her real-life mother play her mom in the movie; there's also one scene where Ginger's character poses as her own mother! When it comes to movies starring celebrity mothers and daughters, only one half of this perfect pair might be recognizable to the public, but that makes this one of the movies here most worth watching for Lela's rare appearance.

Vanessa Redgrave and Natasha Richardson in 'Evening' (2007) - This is one of the pairs of celebrity mothers and daughters here that's most touching to see onscreen, as iconic actress Vanessa Redgrave has tragically outlived her talented daughter. So while it's touching to see Natasha Richardson play the daughter of a dying woman portrayed to perfection by her real-life mother onscreen, it's also a bit bizarre and very saddening. Still, this is a moving movie about memories and reflecting back on life, so it seems like the perfect final portrait for this amazing mother-daughter pair.

Demi Moore and Rumer Willis in 'Striptease' (1996) - Demi Moore is now known as one of Hollywood's hottest cougars (or prettiest pumas, if you prefer that term), but back before the days of Twitter, she was taking Hollywood by storm by taking it all off in one terrible film. In one of her first movie roles, daughter Rumer Willis stars as the reason Demi Moore's character takes up stripping: she needs money to afford an appeal in a custody battle for her daughter. But while her mom has made a name for herself as a stripper, Rumer Willis seems to prefer playing a sorority girl, with roles in 'The House Bunny' and 'Sorority Row'. There's no word on if she'll be following in her mother's footsteps anytime soon, but with 'Striptease' being one of the worst movies starring celebrity mothers and daughters on this list, I very much doubt it (maybe she'll follow father Bruce Willis and become an action star instead).

Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri in 'The Banger Sisters' (2002) - And here's another of the pairs of celebrity mothers and daughters here from which one member can boast sharing a role with a stripper pole. Susan Sarandon's daughter is a spitting image of her younger self, and, just like her mother, she's not afraid to bare it all. Eva Amurri is probably best known for playing a stripper on TV series 'Californication', while her mother has made her alliterative name unforgettable with movies like 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show', 'Thelma & Louise', and 'Bull Durham', in which she plays a baseball groupie. In 'The Banger Sisters', she plays a groupie of a different type: a retired rock band-following babe who has transformed into a straight-laced housewife. Eva Amurri stars as her incredulous daughter, who can't believe that mom once led such a wild lifestyle. However, both halves of the one of the sexiest pairs of celebrity mothers and daughters on this list both seem to pull off "wild" rather well.

Leslie Mann and Iris and Maude Apatow in 'Knocked Up' (2007) - This group is the only one out of all the celebrity mothers and daughters here that's actually a trio, and it also includes some of the youngest stars-to-be on this list. For comedy 'Knocked Up', actress Leslie Mann didn't just team up with director hubby Judd Apatow; the couple's two talented daughters played her children in the movie. They may not have many movies to their names just yet, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of these sweet sisters if their parents' DNA has a say in their future.

Phyllida Law and Emma Thompson in 'The Winter Guest' (1997) - Phyllida Law has been starring in TV series and movies since the 50's, including films like 'Emma' and 'Much Ado About Nothing' (in which she also stars alongside daughter Emma). Her daughter seems to have followed in her mother's footsteps when it comes to starring in movies based on classic tales, with roles in 'Henry V" and 'Sense and Sensibility'. However, here the duo team up for another of the most moving movies starring celebrity mothers and daughters, a wintry work of art that explores the lives of an aging mother and the widowed daughter she moves in with. The film paints beautiful portraits of all of its colorful characters, and it will definitely warm your heart despite its icy setting.

Blythe Danner and Gwyneth Paltrow in 'Sylvia' (2003) - Blythe Danner is a distinguished actress more known for her stage work than her movie roles (although she has starred in many TV series and movies over the years, including comedy 'Meet the Fockers'), so it's refreshing to see her alongside her A-lister daughter in this movie about the tragic life of poet Sylvia Plath (however, I hope their real-life relationship isn't quite so rocky).

Lorraine Bracco and Stella Keitel in 'Goodfellas' (1990) - Best known for her role as Tony's psychiatrist on 'The Sopranos', Lorraine Bracco was first connected to the mob in a different way as the wife of a mafia man climbing the criminal ladder in 'Goodfellas'. Her daughter Stella didn't have a large role in the movie, but it's still interesting to see one of the lesser-known pairs of celebrity mothers and daughters on this list together. And here's an interesting bit of trivia: two years later, Stella would also play her real-life father's daughter in 'Bad Lieutenant'.

Jaid Barrymore and Drew Barrymore in 'Doppelganger' (1993) - The daughter in this celebrity duo has enjoyed a much more prestigious career than her mother, but this movie about a girl and her sinister shadow is probably one of Drew Barrymore's worst. Still, she and Jaid make one of the most intriguing pairs out of all the celebrity mothers and daughters on this list to see together, especially considering the strange fact that the two would both appear in Playboy about two years after starring together (Jaid actually appeared in the magazine eight months after her daughter!).

So from extremely successful pairs of celebrity mothers and daughters to a few who have just tasted a touch of their family member's fame, it's interesting to see these real-life relatives imitate life in their art.
