Brooke Hogan Defends Father Hulk Hogan in a Poem Amid WWE Fallout From Past Racist Remarks

Brooke Hogan is coming to her father's defense.

After the professional wrestler apologized for a racist rant caught on a sex tape from back in 2008, and parted ways with the WWE, his daughter posted a poem to her Facebook, titled "If You Knew My Father," asking people not to be so quick to judge.

The lengthy poem features lines like, "He taught me folks are so much more than shades could ever tell," and "I bet your father or someone that you love maybe regrets something they wish they'd never done."

"My father has a daughter, and I have feelings too," Brooke ends the poem. "And if I knew your father, I would do the same for you."

"Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation," Hogan said in a statement to ET. "It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs. It is not who I am. I continue to work every day to improve as a person, and this matter is an important learning experience for me in that regard. As a result I am resigning from my contractual relationship with the WWE."

Despite Hulk's statement, the WWE maintains that it was the party to end it's relationship with the 61-year-old wrestler.

On Thursday, Hulk tweeted, "In the storm I release control, God and his Universe will sail me where he wants me to be, one love. HH."

Brooke recently spoke to ETonline at the CMT Music Awards in June, updating us on what she's been up to.

"I've been living here in Nashville for the last four years flying under the radar so it's good to finally come out of my cocoon," she said.

In fact, the Florida native is gearing up for a new country-inspired album, which she says "is a reflection of where I'm from."

"I'm a beach girl so I grew up on Sublime but I also grew up on Loretta Lynne and Willie Nelson. I even like the new country stuff – Florida Georgia Line – so there is a little bro country in there," Brooke told ETonline. "It's a mixture of everything, but it's definitely fun and light-hearted."
