Britney Spears' sour face was the talk of last night's "X Factor" results show, when underdogs Fifth Harmony made it into next week's finale.

During Wednesday's performances, Britney had dismissed the girl group's chances, saying, "I would be very surprised to see you here next week."

When Fifth Harmony was announced as safe, mentor Simon Cowell was elated. L.A. Reid and Demi Lovato looked visibly shocked but were congratulatory in their applause. Spears' face, however, expressed bewilderment and extreme displeasure.

As she told hosts Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian Odom, "I was a little disappointed. I thought it was going to be the other group, Emblem3, that would go through."

Was Britney's reaction justified? Or was she being a poor sport?

Refreshing Display of Emotion

On the one hand, it was nice to see some genuine emotion from Brit-Brit, especially after a season full of vapid blank stares and robotic one-line critiques.

And the fact that her face was able to reveal so much emotion showed that she hasn't been overly botoxed like the rest of Hollywood.

Sourpuss Britney

On the other hand, the whole scene reeked of poor sportsmanship. Fifth Harmony may not be her taste, but she could have at least attempted to give credit where it was due.

These girls have grown significantly in this competition, and have really bonded as a group since being assembled at boot camp. And they've persevered despite their underdog status.

As for her own stakes in the competition, Britney has nothing to worry about, as her singer Carly Rose Sonenclar is through to next week's finale (despite a rocky performance of "Imagine.") So why the sour face?

Brit-Brit's reaction was comparatively muted when Carly was announced as safe. She didn't even seem all that excited. And last week, she didn't even hug Diamond White when she was eliminated.

Nicole Scherzinger may have been a train wreck, but at least she always showed how much she cared about her contestants. Britney actually makes me miss Nicole, and that's bleak.
