Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Just because you own a house on the ocean doesn't mean you own the beach -- especially when it's part of a California state park. That's the complaint of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's neighbors, who are peeved that the show biz couple's security staff shoo off local residents and visitors from public sand.

The "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" co-stars' Santa Barbara neighbors are complaining Brangelina's overly aggressive staffers treat anyone who treads on the beach adjacent to their house as trespassers.

"I think they have some over-zealous security people who have legitimate concerns about their safety and paparazzi invading their privacy," said a local named Mike Lunsford. "But there have been incidents where people have been just going for hike and one friend was rudely accosted."

Another neighbor said, "This is a beach that is everyone's and they've enjoyed it for years. Maybe it's time that Mr. Pitt gets a visit from the county and [they] pinch his cheeks a little."

The "World War Z" star was also denounced for racing buggies and motorbikes with his sons along the ecologically brittle coast. Ken Palley, an environmental activist who lives nearby, said, "It is massively damaging to the environment and we'd hope the people who own houses on the shoreline acted more responsibly."

But could the humanitarian couple who travel the world to help others really be such a neighborhood nuisance? It wouldn't be the first time a popular star was dissed by disgusted neighbors.

Reese Witherspoon -- who recently came under fire for mouthing off to a police officer -- vexed residents near her Ojai ranch two years ago when she purchased loud donkeys. Though the "Sweet Home Alabama" actress described her pets Honky and Tonky as "docile and sweet," their loud braying disturbed her noise-sensitive neighbors.

Speaking of noise, it wasn't enough that Justin Bieber threw loud house parties in his otherwise quiet neighborhood. More recently, neighbors complained the budding billionaire raced his Ferrari at speeds up to 100 miles an hour on streets where children play and people walk their pets. Not only was the male diva accused of being a Dennis the Menace, when a neighbor approached him about his reckless behavior, the 19-year-old allegedly spit in the man's face.

Even James Franco had trouble with the neighbor, thanks partly to his trash. The star of "Oz the Great and Powerful" was accused by some of the residents on his Silver Lake street of using his house as a film production shop. The business reportedly generated garbage that blew onto their yards as well as visitors whose cars blocked their driveways and occupied scarce parking spaces.
