All will not be forgiven when Bones returns this fall.

In the Season 7 finale, Brennan (Emily Deschanel) left Booth (David Boreanaz) in the dust to go on the lam with her former convict father Max (guest star Ryan O'Neal) after she was framed for murder by hacker/serial killer Christopher Pelant (Andrew Leeds). When the Fox drama's action picks up three months later this fall (Monday, Sept. 17 at 8/7c), Brennan will still be off the grid and Booth will be called to action to bring his baby mama home.

Bones Season 8 scoop: How will Booth react to being left behind?

"Booth is angry enough that he's no longer going to be a good boy," executive producer Stephen Nathan told the Comic-Con crowd to loud cheers. "Everyone has been trying to find a way to get her back, to clear her. ... But at this point, everybody's patience is growing thin."

Spoiler alert: Brennan won't be missing long once the show returns. But just because Booth tracks her down, that doesn't doesn't mean he won't have issues with the way she left. "When he does finally find her, it's going to take some time for him to understand," Boreanaz said. "She's going to pay."

Season 7 also ended on shaky ground for many members of the Jeffersonian team. Things get particularly tough for the relationships between Hodgins (TJ Thyne) and Angela (Michaela Conlin) as well as Sweets (John Francis Daley) and Daisy (Carla Gallo). "Season 8 is going to be dealing with that difficulty with 'Can we pull the pieces back together again,'" Nathan said. "This season is going to be a season where we see whether they can survive what has happened to them. This is the 'is love enough?' season."

One person who will be more lucky in love? Cam (Tamara Taylor), who Nathan said will find a new love interest this season. (Bonus: The new suitor is someone familiar to Bones fans and someone who will be a "very surprising" pick for her, Nathan said.) As far as new faces go, Nathan said the show "will be investigating Booth's family a little bit more. I think it's time to see his mother."

Bones finale: Will Pelant pull the Jeffersonian team apart?

Given his involvement in her disappearance, the season premiere will also see a return appearance from Brennan's dad. "We'd like to have him come back periodically through the next season," Nathan said. "It was a big deal for Brennan to go on the lam with her father."

Pelant will also resurface in what promises to be the beginning of a long evil streak from the Jeffersonian team's latest adversary. "He will be a major force throughout Season 8. We will be revisiting him periodically and he'll come back in ways we don't expect," Nathan said. "Our people have always been one step ahead of every criminal and now we have someone who is one step ahead.

"It's going to be a little darker this year," Nathan added.

Bones returns Monday, Sept. 17 at 8/7c on Fox.
