Fergie and The Black Eyed Peas will headline the 2011 NFL Bridgestone Super Bowl Halftime Show, performing at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. NFL Super Bowl XLV will take place on Sunday, February 6, 2011.

When the Chicago Bears head to the locker room for a mid-game Super Bowl pep talk with coach Lovie Smith, The Black Eyed Peas will rock Cowboys Stadium in their own way. (OK, even if the Chicago Bears don't make it to Dallas, The Black Eyed Peas are sure to show.)

The National Football League (NFL) announced the Super Bowl XLV Halftime act on Thanksgiving Day, November 25th, when the Dallas Cowboys faced the New Orleans Saints. (The Saints beat the Cowboys, 30-27 in Dallas.) Fox TV televised the game.

The signing of Fergie and The Black Eyed Peas for the 45th NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show offers one of the youngest entertainment acts in many years.

Super Bowl Halftime headliners in recent years have included former Beatle Paul McCartney (2005), The Rolling Stones (2006), Prince (2007), Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (2008), Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band (2009) and The Who (2010).

Entertainment insiders, who stay abreast of such things, virtually all agree that Fergie and The Black Eyed Peas are unlikely to suffer a wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show, such as that faced by Janet Jackson in 2004. Janet Jackson was overexposed, so to speak, singing on stage with Justin Timberlake during the halftime show that year.

The 2011 NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show, taking place in the 660,800-square-foot Cowboys Stadium (opened in May 2009), will be sponsored by Bridgestone. Crowd capacity is estimated at 110,000.

Who are The Black Eyed Peas?

Grammy Award winners, The Black Eyed Peas are a popular pop/rap musical act. With more than 28 million albums sold, The Black Eyed Peas hit the top of the music charts with such songs as "Boom Boom Pow," "Don't Phunk With My Heart," "I Gotta Feeeling" and "Rock That Body."

Formed in 1995, the group now includes Fergie, apl.de.ap, Taboo and will.i.am. Next week, the Black Eyed Peas is scheduled to release a brand-new album, titled "The Beginning."

The Black Eyed Peas are no strangers to NFL Super Bowl festivities. The group performed during a Super Bowl pre-game show in 2005, when the New England Patriots beat the Philadelphia Eagles at Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The pre-game concert included The Charlie Daniels Band, Alicia Keys, Earth Wind and Fire and Gretchen Wilson.

The Black Eyed Peas also played at the 2009 NFL Season Kickoff Concert at Pittsburgh's Point State Park. Harry Connick, Jr., and Tim McGraw performed during the season starter as well.
