Leslie Mann is an ace on the red carpet.

This year at the 2012 Emmy Awards, several ladies made bold statements with their bright yellow dresses. Here's a look at the best and the worst of the yellow dresses.

The Worst

I'm still getting over the visual sunburn I developed from seeing Julianne Moore's clingy bright sunshine-y monstrosity. I actually like the shape of the dress. The tight-fitting wide belt and the long-flowing A-line cut flattered her figure.

But the continuity of the solid bright yellow was too over-the-top. If the belt or top had been a different color, the look would have been more balanced.

We can cut Claire Danes a bit of slack because she is pregnant. But still, why do so many of these Hollywood stars insist on wearing tents instead of real dresses? The drooping top section gave her a slovenly appearance. And the bottom looked like one big curtain.

Julie Bowen's bright yellow tube dress was a case of almost-but-not-quite. I like the way the pencil cut contrasted with the poufy lower section. But the strapless top section gave the appearance that something was missing. Her bare neckline and shoulder area could have used a big necklace to complete the look.

The Best

I'm not usually a fan of the asymmetrical dresses, but Hannah Simone made an elegant statement with her somewhat lopsided yellow number. Overall, the bright yellow provided a nice contrast to her dark hair, while the dress flattered her figure at the midsection. The one-sided strap on the right shoulder was balanced out by the long flowing rain on the right side.

Leslie Mann could have given Julianne Moore pointers on how to successfully rock a bright yellow dress. Leslie wisely chose to break up the yellow bottom with a pearl-sequined top section. There's just enough yellow to draw attention, without overpowering her delicate features. We can see why Leslie loves her designer, Naeem Khan.
