Anne Hathaway has chopped her signature locks for a new role!

Actress Anne Hathaway is really getting into her latest movie role. The actress has chopped her long locks in preparation for her role in the big screen adaption of "Les Miserables," recently stepping out sporting a close cropped pixie-style 'do. You can see a pic of Hathaway's new look here.

As Hathaway loses her hair (and, reportedly, a good bit of weight) for her role as Fantine in the flick, we take a look back at five more actresses who cut their hair for work reasons.

Demi Moore -- "G.I. Jane"

In 1997, brunette beauty Demi Moore famously shaved her head on-camera for her starring role as Jordan O'Neil in the movie "G.I. Jane." In an interview with "Access Hollywood" Moore said, "You don't realize how much you use your hair as part of your presentation…how much you can hide behind it …and when it's gone you're very naked."

Natalie Portman -- "V For Vendetta"

For her role in the 2005 movie "V For Vendetta," actress Natalie Portman also had to have her head shaved on camera-- albeit at someone else's hand. The actress told Blackfilm of the experience: "I was excited to have the opportunity to throw vanity away for a little and go around with no hair, but, obviously, I was in character at the moment it happened, so for her it is a very traumatic experience. She is not choosing it. It's being forced upon her as a pretty violent act." Portman also called the scene high-stress, saying, "The biggest stress of the whole scene was that we only had one chance... For the rest of the movie, if we make a mistake, we can always do it over, but not this scene. "

Cynthia Nixon -- "Wit"

Former "Sex and the City" star Cynthia Nixon went bald for her role as Vivian Bearing, a poetry professor with terminal cancer in the 2012 Broadway play, "Wit." The actress told talk show host Kelly Ripa, "I thought it was kind of gonna be no muss-no fuss, but I have to shave it every day. It's got kind of a five o'clock shadow, and you don't want to go on with that." While Nixon said she kind of liked her hairless look, she was quick to add, "I don't think I'm gonna keep it forever."

Sigourney Weaver -- "Alien 3"

For her final stint as Ellen Ripley in the "Alien" movie franchise, actress Sigourney Weaver got out the shears as well. According to Empire Magazine, at one of the earliest production meetings for the 1991 film "Alien 3," the actress asked newbie director David Fincher how he saw the character of Ripley. Fincher's response: "I see her bald." Weaver liked the idea and joked, 'Well, if I shave my head, then my price goes up.'" Apparently she didn't get an extra dime, but she did become immortalized as one of the most badass female movie characters of all time. Check out a bald Ripley here.

Keri Russell -- "Felicity"

For her role on the second season of the TV series "Felicity," actress Keri Russell chopped her trademark long ringlets. But fans dissed the boyish crop and ratings for the show dropped. In a 2000 interview with In Style, Russell said she had no regrets about cutting her hair. "It's such a freeing thing, because I've had hair down to my bum since I was 15," she said. "I thought people might be a little weird about it at first, since my hair was such a big part of my persona. I did feel exposed, after all those years of having huge hair to hide in." But she added, "I'm so glad I did it. No matter what anybody says."
