Adele dominated Sunday's Billboard Music Awards, taking home 12 trophies, including Top Artist.

The British singer, who did not attend the show, also triumphed in Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist and Top Pop Artist. Her haul puts her three awards shy of Janet Jackson's record 15 awards in one year in 1990.

LMFAO followed with six awards, including five for "Party Rock Anthem." Coldplay and Lil Wayne tied with four trophies.

Stevie Wonder earned the Icon Award and Whitney Houston received the Millennium Award, which was accepted by her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. (Watch below.)

"I really want to say thank you to everyone who supported us through it all," Brown said through tears. "Not just from when it was good, but when it was bad too — just everything. Thank you for showing that much love, because she deserved it. I'm just blessed to have been in such an incredible woman's life. There will never be another one — ever."

Jordin Sparks, who co-stars alongside Houston in this summer's Sparkle, performed "I Will Always Love You" in tribute to the late singer.

The show also featured several other tributes to fallen music superstars. Cee Lo Green performed the Beastie Boys' "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)" for Adam "MCA" Yauch, who died May 4 of salivary gland cancer, and Natasha Bedingfield sang "Last Dance" in remembrance of Donna Summer, who died Thursday of lung cancer.

News of Bee GeeRobin Gibb's death from colorectal cancer broke shortly before the ceremony began. "His voice and music of the Bee Gees will live on forever," Julie Bowen, who co-hosted with her Modern Family husband Ty Burrell, said on the show.
