Adam Lambert is joining the cast of "Glee."

As creator Ryan Murphy tweeted, "I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of 'Glee' this fall."

Details of Lambert's role on the show have yet to be revealed. We also don't know if he'll be a guest star, a recurring character, or a series regular.

The cast has undergone quite a shakeup recently. Heather Morris, Mark Salling, Amber Riley, and Harry Shum Jr. were recently demoted to guest roles, while newbies Melissa Benoist, Blake Jenner, Becca Tobin, Jacob Artist, and Alex Newell were promoted to series regulars.

Given the recent developments on the show, including the uneven season 4 and the over-emphasis on the new kids, I was not looking forward to the upcoming season of "Glee." However, with Adam joining the cast, I might have reason to be excited again.

Here's a look at a few ways they could write him into the show.

Breaking Up The Kurt & Blaine Engagement

It's obvious that Blaine (Darren Criss) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) are not ready to get married. They're too young, and they're not even officially dating right now.

During season 4, a meeting with a lesbian couple (Patty Duke and Meredith Baxter) inspired Blaine in his decision to propose to Kurt.

Blaine had mentioned wishing he had more LGBT role models to look up to. Why not let Adam's character become a mentor for Blaine? Maybe Glambert would be able to get through to him and talk him out of this hair(gel)-brained proposal.

Rival Love Interest For Kurt

Alternatively, why not bring Glambert's character to NYADA?

He could play a senior or a graduate student. I'd be interested to see him as a rival love interest for Kurt. Glambert and the Adam's Apples director (Oliver Kieran-Jones) could engage in a battle of dueling Adams.

Replacement for Mr. Schue

I was particularly impressed with Adam's appearance as a mentor on "American Idol." He was refreshingly honest to the contestants, offered helpful critiques, and seemed genuinely invested in their success.

I loved Mr. Schue's (Matthew Morrison) character during season 1, but since then, he's become a deadweight. He's become this cliche jaded arts ed teacher who doesn't have friends his own age, and is vicariously living through his students.

During season 4, I found myself wanting to fast forward the McKinley scenes and to just watch Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt in New York. Could Adam as a New Directions choir director revive viewer interest in the McKinley story lines?

Actors like Cheyenne Jackson and Neil Patrick Harris had memorable guest roles on "Glee," hilariously playing New Directions enemies.

Adam could potentially shine in a comedic role, playing a Vocal Adrenaline coach, a jaded show choir judge, an arts administrative bureaucrat, or even an accomplice for Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch).

Would you tune into see Adam on "Glee"? What kind of character should he play?
