Actor Ron Livingston 'extremely proud' of his sister, bullied news anchor Jennifer Livingston

Many celebrities have stepped up in support of Wisconsin TV news anchor Jennifer Livingston, who made headlines this week for fighting back against a viewer who criticized her weight, but there is one famous supporter who is especially meaningful to the newswoman: her brother, actor Ron Livingston.

Best known for his roles in “Sex and the City” (his character, Berger, dumped Carrie with a Post-it) and “Office Space,” Ron, 45, said he is “extremely proud” of his sister for speaking out. "My sister Jennifer ... brings an exceptional dedication to her job, her family, and her community, and has been a role model of mine for many, many years,” he said in a statement on Wednesday night.

Jennifer’s story went viral earlier this week. While appearing on air for CBS affiliate WKBT-TV in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the mother of three read a letter that was sent to her by a viewer saying that as a "local public personality," she wasn't a "suitable" role model for girls because she is obese. Noting that it’s Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, Jennifer talked about how that the viewer didn’t know her personally, and asserted that she was "more than a number on the scale."

The anchor later appeared on “CBS This Morning” to talk about the incident. "That email was well-written, it was articulate, but make no mistake, it was meant to hurt my feelings,” she said. “It was meant to shame me into losing weight and in my opinion, that's a bully.”

In addition to her brother’s support, many other celebrities have been speaking out regarding Jennifer. Ellen DeGeneres reached out to her yesterday on Twitter and then booked her for an appearance on her talk show next week. Jennifer Love Hewitt tweeted several thoughts about the situation as well, calling the newswoman “my new hero,” and adding, “Way to go! She's a beautiful woman!” The ladies of “The Talk” also had a field day with the topic, but Sheryl Underwood had the last word, hilariously telling the man who criticized Jennifer, “Shut your a-- up.”
