Charlie Hunnam has freed himself from the role of Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie, so it's time for the breathless casting speculation for the BDSM film to begin again.
Early reports stated that the "Sons of Anarchy" star backed out of the movie because his busy TV schedule wasn't allowing him enough time to prepare for the part. However, sources later told The Hollywood Reporter that the actor was "overwhelmed with the attention he received from being cast in the movie."
Other actors might have similar fears about the film, but surely there is onehot star out there who can handle the "Fifty Shades" fever. Here's a look at a few guys who might consider tying themselves to the movie now that Charlie Hunnam has turned in his handcuffs:
Now that "Gossip Girl" is no longer on the air, this sexy star doesn't have to worry about a busy TV schedule stopping him from signing on to play Christian Grey. He doesn't just have good looks and free time going for him -- he once said that he was actually interested in starring in "Fifty Shades." "I would love the challenge," he told FOX News back in February. "I have not read the books, but what I know is that it is risqué, and to be honest, anything to shake up from the way I have been going would be good." At least we know that he looks good playing a rich guy in a suit and tie.
This star has something in common with Dakota Johnson, the actress playing Anastasia Steele. They both have famous parents. But would Clint Eastwood be as excited about his son getting cast in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie as Melanie Griffith was when she learned that her daughter would be playing Christian Grey's love interest? Maybe not, but a lot of women would be thrilled to see 27-year-old Scott Eastwood cast as Christian after seeing the actor's shirtless photos in Town & Country magazine. He also shares some important traits with E. L. James's character -- he has copper-colored hair and can play the piano.
Dakota Johnson worked with Channing on the movie "21 Jump Street," so perhaps she could talk her co-star into replacing Charlie -- both guys do have a similar beefcake look. Channing proved that he doesn't mind sexy movies by playing a stripper in "Magic Mike," and he did once say that he was interested in playing Christian Grey. However, there was one little catch that might cause another big casting shakeup -- he said that his wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, would insist on playing Anastasia Steele.
This star once said that he'd make the perfect Christian because he's had "a lot of experience seducing younger women" on "The Vampire Diaries." He was a big fan favorite for "Fifty Shades," so a lot of women were disappointed when he missed out on the role. Poor Ian also needs some good news after his breakup with co-star Nina Dobrev, so perhaps E. L. James will take pity on him and give the star a second look.
This "White Collar" star was another big fan favorite. After learning that Hunnam had been cast as Christian, some "Fifty Shades" fans were so upset that they created a Change.org petition to replace Hunnam with Bomer. The classy actor responded by saying that he was "grateful for the fans and touched" but that he was "looking forward to seeing the movie with Charlie and Dakota."
Could this "Divergent" star go from playing Four to playing Fifty? The actor's star is on the rise after getting cast in what might be the next "Hunger Games," and he is the right age for the role. James also got to meet with "Fifty Shades" studio execs before Charlie was chosen, so perhaps there's a chance that he'll be given a second look.
Can you picture any of these actors as Christian Grey?
