5 MTV Movie Awards Moments Worth (Re)Watching

The 2012 MTV Movie Awards went down in Los Angeles last night, but despite hiring Russell Brand to host, almost the whole ceremony was a giant snooze. No shock, some "awwwwww," but mostly me hitting the fast-forward button so I could catch up to live after DVR-ing the first half in order to watch Game of Thrones' finale (for the record, I was easily able to catch up).

That's not to say there weren't a few standout moments at last night's shindig, so in case you missed the 2-hour telecast, here are the 5 moments worth watching. Or rewatching.

1. Christian Bale breaks down remembering Heath Ledger
True genuine emotions are hard to come by at this PR-bonanza, so when the normally steely Bale lost his composure after watching footage of Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, my heart broke a little bit. It was quickly healed, and elated, when his Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan walked out to the kind of reception normally saved for rock stars. Which, lets face it, he totally is. Watch!

2. Emma Stone's Trailblazer Speech
"I'm a crier." That's how Emma Stone began her acceptance speech of this fabricated award (sorry, the first annual awarding of said statuette). And you know what, by the end of her heartfelt, genuine and inspiring speech, I'd turned into a crier too. Sadly MTV has decided not to make this moment available for re-watching, but you can peep the "tribute" video that preceded the presentation. Watch!

3. Elizabeth Banks meets Magic Mike
Matthew McConaughey, Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello bestowed the Best Transformation Award upon Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks -- but the awarding quickly devolved (evolved?) into a groping, gyrating and giggle-fest which only tacked on 5 more planned Magic Mike viewings. Watch!

4. Johnny Depp & The Black Keys
There have been many amazing musical moments on The MTV Movie Awards, but none can compare to seeing the Oscar-nominated actor slappin' da bass alongside the rock band. Watch!

5. Kristen Stewart Being Kristen Stewart
Admittedly, the actress has come a long way in the "so awkward it hurts" department, but as far as she's come, she still has miles to go as repeatedly proved throughout the telecast as K. Stew took the stage three times for a series of cringe-worthy moments. The first was her over-enthusiastic reaction to Jennifer Lawrence not attending the Movie Awards, the second involved her begging for a kiss from the crowd and the third came when The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn: Part 1 won Best Movie and she slammed the critics who thinks she is dying to get away from Bella. Watch! Watch! Watch!
