Hilary Swank

We're used to hearing about all the big cash celebrities drop on lavish homes and vehicles. All the excess can make even the most level-headed people seethe with jealousy.

The truth? Not every A-lister spends all their cash on frivolous items. Quite a few celebrities are quite frugal, despite their millions.

Hilary Swank

Hilary Swank grew up poor in a Washington trailer park and got used to stretching her dollars to make ends meet. Those lessons still stick with her even though she's now an Oscar winner with millions to her name.

"I would use a coupon - just because I have some money now, I wouldn't? That doesn't make sense to me. I see it as a dollar in my pocket," Swank has said, adding that some people laugh at her about it. "I have a deep understanding of what a dollar gets you and how far to make that dollar go.

Pink

Pink learned an important lesson from music mogul L.A. Reid early in her career: Keep money set aside so you don't make decisions based on cash.

"I make sure that my F- - - You account is okay, so that you never have to make decisions based on money," she told Entertainment Weekly last year. "I feel like that's where people kill their careers."

Somehow we don't think Pink would settle even if she was broke.

Tobey Maguire

Like Swank, actor Tobey Maguire grew up poor and keeps a tight reign on his millions.

"When I first started being successful at this, financially speaking, I was very conservative with my money," he told Parade magazine in 2007, adding that it was a result of his past. "I just never wanted to put myself in the position where my spending was so huge that I had to keep making movie after movie."

Good plan, Tobey.

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar has enjoyed a successful career that's spanned three decades, but she still loves to get a good deal when she goes shopping.

"I take my reusable bag to Whole Foods so I get a discount," she told Self magazine in 2007.

"I go to Bloomingdale's on double reward days. And I always print my dry cleaning coupons before I go."

Hey, we can't blame you for trying to save a few bucks, Sarah!
