2015 Tony Awards: Hollywood Dominates with Noms for Bradley Cooper, Helen Mirren & More

Hollywood continues to dominate Broadway with Bill Nighy, Carey Mulligan, Elisabeth Moss, Helen Mirren, Ken Watanabe, Patricia Clarkson, and The Affair’s Ruth Wilson all picking up acting nominations for the 2015 Tony Awards.

It continues to be a good year for Bradley Cooper, who picked up his first Tony Award nomination for The Elephant Man following his Oscar-nominated role in American Sniper. The actor was also honored by Time magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential People, with Oliver Platt calling him “a dazzling actor.”

An American in Paris, Fun Home, Something Rotten, and The Visit will battle it out for Best Musical. The nominees for Best Play include The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, Disgraced, Hand of God, and Wolf Hall.

The nominations were announced by Mary-Louise Parker and Bruce Willis, who is making his Broadway debut opposite House of Cards actress Elizabeth Marvel in the stage adaptation of Misery.

Special Tony Awards will be handed out to Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz and John Cameron Mitchell, who co-created Hedwig & the Angry Inch Off-Broadway before returning to the lead role earlier this year. Mitchell is not eligible for this year’s acting race since he followed Neil Patrick Harris in the show’s Broadway run.

Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming will share hosting duties when the awards are handed out live on June 7 from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
