Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Solange Speak Out About Elevator Fight

Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Solange have finally spoken.

The Carter-Knowles family issued a statement to the AP on Thursday regarding the leaked video footage that showed Solange attacking Jay Z in an elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York.

"As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it," the family said in a joint statement. "Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."

A number of news outlets have speculated on what triggered the fight, with reasons ranging from Jay Z's inappropriate flirting to Solange being served one too many drinks.

"The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false," the statement continued. "At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same."

However, the Standard Hotel had to take serious action before it could move forward following the security breach that occurred at the high-end establishment.

The Standard fired the employee responsible for leaking an elevator video that shows Beyoncé's sister, Solange, and her husband, Jay Z, getting into a heated argument on May 5 following the Met Gala.

"The Standard has identified the individual responsible for breaching the security policies of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video released by TMZ," the hotel said in a statement to The Insider With Yahoo. "The Standard has already terminated the individual and will now be pursuing all available civil and criminal remedies. The Standard will next be turning over all available information to the criminal authorities."

The surveillance footage, which was leaked to TMZ on Monday, set off a firestorm of media inquiries about what was said between Solange, 27, and her brother-in-law, 44, and also prompted concerns about security breaches and privacy.

Immediately following the leak, the hotel's management released a statement about their intentions to hold their staffer accountable for his actions: "We are shocked and disappointed that there was a clear breach of our security system and the confidentiality that we count on providing our guests. We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to our fullest capacity."

Reports over the sum that the employee netted for leaking the video to TMZ remain unsubstantiated, but the New York Post estimates he nabbed up to $250,000. Of course, if the hotel does wind up taking legal action against their former staffer, that figure likely will be revealed.

Despite the embarrassing altercation, Beyoncé and her sister seem to be patching up their relationship. While Solange deleted nearly every photo of her older sister from her Instagram account earlier in the week, the "Run the World" singer posted four photos of the two of them on her account on Wednesday, and Solange followed suit Thursday morning with a #throwbackthursday picture of them as kids in matching plaid outfits.
