The Bethenny Frankel Blues: Talk Show Canceled, Skinnygirl Sales Tanking

Poor Bethenny Frankel can't seem to catch a break.

The former "Real Housewives of New York" star woke up on Valentine's Day to a breakup — the cancellation of her daytime talk show. Telepictures Prods. announced it won't be bringing "Bethenny" back for a second season. "While we are disappointed not to be able to bring the series back for a second season, we remain convinced that Bethenny has a unique voice and that she will continue to be successful in the future," a spokesperson for the company told Yahoo.

"I had a blast doing this show with Telepictures," Frankel said in a statement. "My entire staff worked so hard and made everyday so much fun. I am thankful for the experience and for all my fans who tuned in every day."

This is just the latest in a series of setbacks for the reality star. A few weeks ago, beverage company Beam reported that sales of Skinnygirl Cocktails (which Frankel created and sold to them) plummeted 26 percent last year. That's in stark contrast to double-digit growth of the company's other brands, like Knob Creek and Pinnacle.

While Frankel received an upfront payment from Beam for the sale in 2010, she still has a monetary stake in Skinnygirl and continues to promote and create new products — like Skinnygirl Sparklers — for the line.

Last fall, Beam CEO Matthew Shattock expressed hope that Frankel's talk show would boost awareness of Skinnygirl. Oops. That didn't quite work out, did it? "Bethenny" ended up drawing only 1.1 million viewers on average — putting it in the talk show cellar along with "Arsenio" and "Trisha." To compare, the talk shows of Queen Latifah and Ellen DeGeneres earned 1.5 million and 3.9 million total viewers per episode, respectively.

Frankel's personal life is even more troubled than her career; she's currently in the midst of a nasty divorce from Jason Hoppy, the father of her 3-year-old daughter, Bryn. She recently leased a second apartment to reside with her new boyfriend, financier Michael Cerussi, while Hoppy continues to live in their TriBeCa loft. (There are also unconfirmed tabloid reports Friday that Cerussi may not be so keen on moving in.)

Meanwhile, the divorce is dragging — the couple separated over a year ago — because Hoppy "has been offered millions to settle, but asked for quadruple," a source told Us Weekly.

Looks like Frankel might need a steady paycheck. She told "The Yo Show" that she’s a pretty good snowboarder. Maybe she can sub in at the Sochi Olympics!
