Taylor Swift Will Explain Why Drinking Is ‘Not Cute’ in ’60 Minutes’ Interview

In teaser footage for Taylor Swift's upcoming "60 Minutes" interview, the 21-year-old country singer reveals she's a non-drinker for a reason you usually don't hear coming from an adult: the need to maintain cuteness.

Explaining her socially conscious approach to stardom, Swift asserts that setting a good example is a necessary part of being a pop star.

"It would be really easy to say, 'I'm 21 now, I do what I want. You raise your kids.' But it's not the truth of it," Swift tells the Sunday news show.

And for Taylor, part of being a role model means not tarnishing her image of wholesome adorability. For instance, although she's of-age and has tried booze, she's "not a drinker."

"I don't drink to get drunk because that's just not cute," Swift says. And in case you needed it spelled out, she certainly isn't following in the footsteps of country compatriot Willie Nelson. "I just don't feel like it," Swift says of marijuana.

The news that Swift doesn't smoke backstage probably won't shock anyone, but then again, for a straight-edged singer/songwriter, Swift sure does think in fairy tale terms a lot.

And for a mild-mannered sweet country gal, Swift tells "60 Minutes" a few things that seem implicitly critical of her pop peers.

"The truth of it is that every singer out there with songs on the radio is raising the next generation. So make your words count."
