Melissa McCarthy Will Squeeze Into a Tube Top to Prevent Her Kids from Going Goth

Parents never want their kids to make the same mistakes they made as adolescents, but it sounds like Melissa McCarthy really doesn't want her daughters to follow in her footsteps, and she already has an extreme intervention method to prevent it.

The "Bridesmaids" breakout star said she went through a goth phase while she attended a girls-only Catholic high school in Illinois. "There was a three-year chunk as a teen where I should have been tranquilized and put in a cage ," she told Entertainment Weekly.

Luckily for her two daughters (sort of), the recent Emmy winner already has a plan to prevent them from indulging in any ill-advised fashion phases. "I will embarrass my kids to their core. I will threaten to show up in a hot pants and a tube top," she vows. She even has a contingency plan if they go to any raucous parties: Her husband will drop her and a "pretty drunk" friend off at the house in question and they will "come into that party and just rip it up."

Considering her two girls are four- and one-year-olds right now, this could mean that McCarthy will be drunkenly crashing high school parties in a tube top when she's in her fifties.

Who knows, though? Ten years from now McCarthy might be able to pull off the hot pants. "Do I sometimes hope I wake up in the morning and people are like, 'What's wrong with her? She looks emaciated,'" she asks. "Of course I would love that, I'm such a clothes whore….. but I think I'm more confident [now] than I've ever felt in my life."
