Joanna Garcia and Nick Swisher Will Honeymoon in Afghanistan
Joanna Garcia and Nick Swisher's honeymoon destination is ... Afghanistan! Romantic? Not exactly. For a great cause? Absolutely. The chipmunk-cute actress and the Yankee outfielder tell Page Six they plan to spend their first post-wedding trip visiting U.S. troops stationed there. The pair got hitched last December.
"Three military officers came to the Yankee locker room and asked if any of us would like to visit the troops. My hand went straight up, I said, 'I'm in,'" Swisher said while attending a tornado relief benefit in New York City. "I knew Joanna would want to go."
"I come from a military family ... and no matter what your views are, these men and women are out there risking everything for us," he continues. "I realize how fortunate I have been, so I like to give back at every opportunity I can. I don't want to look back on my life when I am old, with my grandchildren around me, and think, 'Man, I wish I'd done that. I've had one shot at this (life).'"
Garcia, who's also looking forward to the trip, adds: "We'll probably make a stop in Europe on our way back."
Someone else the troops might like to meet: Kim Kardashian, currently on her quickie honeymoon in Capri.
