Jennifer Lopez Breaks Silence On Divorce

Jennifer Lopez is commenting on her divorce from Marc Anthony for the first time in the pages of Vanity Fair.

"It's not that I didn't love myself before," she tells the magazine. "Sometimes we don't realize that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself -- if I stay, then I am not doing the right thng for me."

With a dramatic flourish, Lopez adds: "I love myself enough to walk away from that now."

Lopez, who's on the cover of the magazine's September issue, says that -- despite the breakup of her third marriage -- she is nevertheless an "eternal optimist" who believes in love. She respects Anthony as an artist and the father of her 3-year-old twins, Max and Emme.

Wondering: how long before the serial monogamist finds a new man? Perhaps Lopez's mom, Guadalupe, will solicit Ben Affleck's expert guidance on setting her daughter up with one of his nice movie-star friends.
