Christina Applegate Welcomes Daughter Sadie

Happy news: Christina Applegate and her fiance, musician Martyn LeNoble, welcomed a daughter named Sadie Grace LeNoble last Thursday. "She's a beautiful little girl, and they are so happy and in love with her," Applegate's rep tells People.com.

The name Sadie -- which is the Hebrew diminutive for Sarah -- is gaining popularity in the celebriverse and beyond. (And we're not talking about Jude Law's on-again off-again paramour, Sadie Miller.)

Adam Sandler chose the name for his daughter in 2006, and, according to a chart by the Baby Names Hub, the name has been on a sharp upward trend since the start of the 2000s. The site says "records indicate that at least 90,643 girls have been named Sadie since 1880 in the United States." The name dropped to near-obscurity in the 1970s, which is surprising considering The Beatles used it in a popular song title in 1968. Perhaps it was the proliferation of Sadie Hawkins day -- you know, when females would perform the crazy, bold act of asking males for a date. Either way, we have thousands-more Sadies than there were in the 1800s. We predict another uptick in the name now that one of America's Most Likeable Actresses has anointed the name as worthy.

The actress and the rock musician got engaged last Valentine's Day after dating two years. Soon they will be "Married ... With Children." Ba-dum-dum. (We just had to.)

Congrats, Christina!
