Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s Breakup: ‘They Are Pretty Much Done’

Has Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's relationship finally run its course? It's looking like it.

However, sources told omg! it's not exactly as black and white as it may sound.

"Yeah, they are pretty much done," an insider close to the couple confirmed to us. "But don't be surprised if they get back together."

While omg! was told the couple have been "talking a bit," it appears they both needed time and distance to figure out what they want. Hemsworth, 23, is in Australia with his family weathering the latest split rumors.

So how did Cyrus and Hemsworth get to this rocky point in their relationship? The warning signs were definitely there.

The last time "The Last Song" actors were photographed looking happy together was in Costa Rica, as they packed on the public displays of affection on the beach, where they were celebrating Hemsworth's 23rd birthday on Jan. 13.

Cyrus was the February's Cosmopolitan cover girl where she talked about how confident she was in her relationship.

"Number one is my relationship with Liam," she said, boasting, "I'll literally look at him and [will] be like 'You are hot, dear God!'"

However, it's important to note that, interviews like the one in Cosmopolitan are typically done months in advance. Following Cyrus and Hemsworth's Costa Rican vacation, pictures of the two together have been few and far between.

Miley stepped out solo for Clive Davis's pre-Grammy party in L.A. on Feb. 9, and appeared to be in great spirits as she partied with the likes of Katy Perry and John Mayer.

However, it wasn't until Oscar weekend that things appeared to take a downward turn.

Hemsworth stepped out solo on Friday, Feb. 22, for a private pre-Oscars bash. According to Us Weekly, the actor got a little flirty with Emma Watson at a house party in Brentwood, California.

The next night, Liam partied at another pre-Oscars bash at Chateau Marmont. This is when he was photographed leaving with "Mad Men" actress January Jones, and they continued to hang out at a private house party late into the night.

On Sunday, Feb. 24, Cyrus stepped out for Elton John's Oscar viewing party and brought her mom, Tish, as her date for the night, not her fiancé.

Star then reported on Feb. 27 that Hemsworth cheated on Cyrus with Jones. According to People, Hemsworth told his fiancé nothing happened between the two of them and everyone was just drunk and being silly. But this did not sit well with the singer.

Still, Cyrus appeared to believe her fiancé. She was photographed on March 1 wearing her engagement ring, the same day Hemsworth flew to Australia to be with his family.

Again, rumors persisted that the couple was done.

After Us Weekly reported on March 6 that the couple's wedding was off, the "Can't Be Tamed" singer took to Twitter, insisting the rumors were false:

However, the next two nights, Miley was photographed without her engagement ring. She was even spotted with a "mystery man," but omg! identified him as Paul Khoury, a good friend of the couple's.

Sources insisted to omg! that nothing was going on between the two of them and it was just a friendly night out.

Cyrus has kept a low profile in L.A. the past few days, while Hemsworth was spotted surfing in Australia this past Monday. As omg! reported last week, the "Hunger Games" star wanted to spend time back home as he and Cyrus, 20, went through a "rough patch." The actor flew home without a return date back to L.A.

The New York Post reported early Wednesday morning that the couple has officially split, with one source citing Hemsworth's wandering eye, and another blaming Cyrus' hard partying.

Bottom line: These kids are young. We doubt we have seen the last of Miley and Liam as a couple, but a wedding definitely is not in the cards right now, multiple sources tell us.

We reached out to reps for both stars for comment, but have yet to hear back.
