Harry Styles Just Knows Taylor Swift Will Write a Song About Him

When you date Taylor Swift, it's part of the deal.

Just like you know you're going to spend some time doing DIY projects and hanging out with the 23-year-old's cat Meredith, you also know going in that one day, the blue-eyed songstress will be strumming her guitar to a tune about you. There's already "Dear John" (John Mayer), "All Too Well" (Jake Gyllenhaal?), "Back to December" (Taylor Lautner?), and a few others.

Harry Styles, who called it quits with the songstress in January after two months of dating, says that as a fellow musician, he understands that his relationship with Swift will be fodder for her songs.

"It would be hypocritical for me to say she couldn't do it because everybody writes songs based on personal experience," Styles, 19, tells Us Weekly. "I can't say I'd have dated someone less famous to avoid it."

He jokes, "At least she’s a great songwriter!"

It certainly doesn't sound like Swift has to worry about Styles saying something nasty about her in the One Direction movie that opens August 30.

She didn't even turn the boy bander against dating another celebrity.

"I think it's people, you like people for who they are, so I couldn't say I want to date someone less famous because of the hassle," he says. "You like who you like."

The British cutie explains his strategy for sustaining a romance in the spotlight.

"I think relationships are hard enough, so I think you have to completely ignore everything from outside," he says. "When you're in the opening stages of a relationship as it is, you're still under the pressure of getting to know everything about a person. If you have a lot of people from outside telling you what it is and they don't even know you, telling you what your relationship is, that's weird. So I think you sort of have to block it out and just have the relationship rather than think — we're having this relationship play out on magazine covers."

And — do you have a pen handy? — Styles lists a few things he wants in a girl. Yes, he's done it before, but the requirements are constantly changing. (He's 19!)

"Someone with a cute laugh and a good smile," he shares. "Someone you can have fun with — I like someone who's up for doing stuff in terms of like, trying new things and going out new places. Not just someone who does nothing and wants to sit around."

A guitar is optional …
