Eva Longoria thanks press for Ernesto Arguello relationship

The press appears to have some sway when it comes to Eva Longoria's relationships. The "Desperate Housewives" star is praising the media for helping to spark her new romance with reality star Ernesto Arguello.

On the People website on Thursday, Longoria confirmed rumours that she's dating Arguello, the 34-year-old star of the short-lived reality show "Ready For Love," which Longoria herself produced. She first met the Miami entrepreneur last year when he was cast on the NBC competition series, but the coupl only started dating after Arguello's relationship with the show's winner, former Miss USA Shandi Finnessey, ended.

"I think that's why our relationship is so special – we truly started as friends,” said Longoria, adding, “I guess we have the press to thank for pushing us to see something we didn't see!"

But the 38-year-old actress, who just got back from a trip to Nicaragua where she met Arguello's whole family, hasn't always felt so cozy towards the press. In 2012, she slammed the media for trying to sour her on ex-husband, Parker, from whom she split in 2010 after three years of marriage. She told ABC last year that the press "wanted me to hate him and wanted to villainize him and I don't and I didn't."

Before she wed the Spurs star, Longoria tied the knot with "General Hospital" actor Tyler Christopher in 2002. Between marriages, she has also dated Eduardo Cruz (Penelope Cruz's brother), director Stephen Kay, and ex-'NSYNC member JC Chasez.
