Jessica Simpson’s parents split after 34 years of marriage

Just as Jessica Simpson is planning her wedding, her parents are ending their own marriage. On Wednesday, Joe and Tina Simpson announced they're divorcing after 34 years. "It is an amicable split and there is no third party involved," the couple said in a statement. "Any other related allegations are completely false. The family appreciates your respect for their privacy at this time."

Those allegations they're referring to is a National Enquirer report this week that the minister-turned-manager recently confessed to his family that he is gay. "Joe got the family together about two months ago and came out of the closet," a source told the tabloid.

Whether or not that's true, it has been a tough couple of months for the famous father. In August, he was arrested for DUI in Sherman Oaks, California. If convicted, the 54-year-old could face a maximum of six months in jail, three years probation, and a $1,000 fine.

According to "Entertainment Tonight," Tina filed divorce papers in McLennan County, Texas, on September 24, just two weeks after her husband plead not guilty to DUI. In the filing, she specified, "The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities." Days later, Joe responded with his own divorce petition, insisting that his wife gets nothing from him in the split, reports TMZ. The estranged couple also recently put their Encino, California, mansion on the market for $4.3 million.
