The funniest tweets about ‘Sharknado’

Thursday night, a television event descended from above and graced the world with its sharp-toothed presence. That's right: Syfy's "Sharknado," a made-for-TV movie about sharks, tornadoes, and sharks in tornadoes took Twitter by storm, re-defining "television event" and putting Oscar night to shame. (We assume. Because the Oscars don't involve Sharknados -- yet.)

However, in addition to the tail (get it?) of shark-infested tornadoes terrorizing Santa Monica (and a guy named Fin -- Fin -- Sheppard destined to save everybody), another story picked up just as much speed. According to Twitter, Mia Farrow and author Philip Roth had a "Sharknado" viewing party when this photo was posted to her account.

Unfortunately, the photo was actually from a June 1 dinner, and the "Sharknado" party was merely a hoax; an example, according to HitFix television critic Alan Sepinwall, of "one of those stories people just wanted to be true so badly."

However, there was some truth to Farrow's "Sharknado" experience: The actress did watch and tweet along with everybody else. To showcase the scale on which "Sharknado" existed on Twitter on Thursday, we found some of the best tweets to encompass what we pray wasn't just a once in a lifetime event.
