’90210′ is cancelled, but here are some remakes The CW can do instead

After five seasons, The CW's "90210" will come to an end in May. The show's ever-diminishing ratings (and, let's face it, ratings were never actually good for this show) led to the network's decision to pull the plug. So, on May 13, the zip code will become only a memory -- and an actual zip code in California, somewhere. (Beverly Hills, to be specific.)

The CW network president Mark Pedowitz didn't seem all that broken up about it.

"The CW has had five great seasons with America's favourite zip code, '90210,'" he said in an official statement. "I'd like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni."

This, of course, opens up the door to more CW remakes, we hope. Yeah, "90210" was great (OK, it was bad, but it was fun bad), but we actually have some better ideas for some young, sexy reincarnations of our favourite '80s and '90s series. Let's do this. "The Golden Girls"
Starring: Alexis Bledel (Rose), Leighton Meester (Dorothy), Rachel Bilson (Blanche), Sophia Bush (Sophia)
Premise: Four former college queens are thrown together as housemates while battling through their early '20s. Will they ever find love? And more importantly, why did they move to Miami?

"Who's the Boss?"
Starring: Josh Hutcherson (Tony), Brittany Snow (Angela), AnnaLynne McCord (Mona)
Premise: As Angela works her way through law school, Mona hires Tony to look after the family's dog, Jonathan. Fortunately, Tony's in need of a job and quick -- he's running out of food for his cat, Samantha. He also vacuums the curtains.

"Perfect Strangers"
Starring: Chace Crawford (Larry) and Adam Brody (Balki)
Premise: Things are going great for Larry post-college, until his cousin Balki shows up and insists on getting in on the family business. But how will Balki adjust to Chicago's financial district? Will brokers appreciate his dance of joy? And where are the sheep?!

"Cheers"
Starring: Ben McKenzie (Sam), AnnaSophia Robb (Diane), Jonah Hill (Norm), Michael Cera (Cliff), and Kelsey Grammer (Dr. Frasier Crane)
Premise: Sam inherits his father's bar, while and Diane vies for his love -- and a promotion as co-owner. Meanwhile, they befriend the regular customers (minus Dr. Crane, who they can never really get to leave).

"Alf"
Starring: Taylor Lautner (using the same CGI as in "Twilight")
Premise: After Alf's ship crashes onto planet earth, he's picked up by the humane society; then a kindly family adopts him, thinking he's just a dog. Surprise! He's an alien, and he's got surprisingly muscular abs.

So, which other shows are in need of some sexy, teen-centric updating? "Murphy Brown"? "Major Dad"? "Designing Women"? Give us your thoughts, as well as the cast members you'd like to see in each.
