Jon Hamm Calls Kim Kardashian an ‘Idiot’—She Talks Back

It's safe to say Jon Hamm does not keep up with the Kardashians. The "Mad Men" star takes a swipe at the family's most famous member, Kim, as well as her former BFF Paris Hilton, in the new issue of Elle UK. Although it's not clear what question he was asked, he responded by saying that in regards to the two celebutantes, "stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f--king idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you're rewarded significantly … It's celebrated. It doesn't make sense to me."

Three days after the story was first reported, Kardashian, 31, responded on Monday with a statement via Twitter, in which she expressed hurt and asked for the actor's respect. "I just heard about the comment Jon Hamm made about me in an interview," she began. "I respect Jon and I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that not everyone takes the same path in life. We're all working hard and we all have to respect one another. Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, 'stupid,' is in my opinion careless."

Is this the beginning of a Twitter war? Probably not. Since Hamm, 40, doesn't have a Twitter or Facebook account, chances are he hasn't even seen her retort!

For the record, Hamm isn't the first legitimate Hollywood actor to take aim at what they deem as the Kardashians' undeserved success. Last November, Daniel Craig called out the attention-seeking family — and used the same phrase as Hamm: "f—king idiots." In an interview with British GQ, the "James Bond" star vented: "Look at the Kardashians, they're worth millions. I don't think they were badly off to begin with, but now look at them. You see that and you think, 'What, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f--king idiot on television and then you'll pay me millions?'" Jonah Hill voiced a similar concern last December. "The truth of it is, I have friends who work in TV and the Kardashians get higher ratings than their TV shows — shows that people actually work hard on — writing and creating and trying to tell stories," he told The Huffington Post.

As for Hilton, 31, there has been no response yet about Hamm's comments — just lots of Tweets about how much she loves Barbie, fast cars, and lunching in Beverly Hills.
