Bobby Brown ‘Worried’ Bobbi Kristina Will Turn to Drugs

Like mother and father, like daughter? Bobby Brown opened up about his only child with Whitney Houston, Bobbi Kristina, during the second part of his interview with the "Today" show's Matt Lauer on Thursday morning, and the singer admitted that he is concerned the 19-year-old will follow down the same path of substance abuse as her parents. Even before Houston's February death, which was ruled as a result of her cocaine abuse, Bobbi Kristina has reportedly had issues with drugs. Last March, she was photographed snorting what appeared to be cocaine — which she claimed was a set-up by an ex. "I would always be worried about that," Brown, who was arrested for DUI in March, revealed to Lauer, but added it wasn't a current concern "because I know … I know what she is actually doing."

Despite reports that Bobbi Kristina seemed as if she was on something during her mother's funeral and the fact that she went missing for hours after it was over, Brown says people just want tear her down. "I think people are, you know, making assumptions of what my daughter is and how strong she is. People tend to want to control strong-willed people. And that's what I see." And as for the Houston family's worry that Bobbi Kristina may never recover from the death of her mother, her best friend and constant companion, Brown adds, "I think we raised her really well. She's fine. She knows that her mom is gone. And she knows that she has to live."

Lauer also grilled the New Edition singer, 43, over the reports that his daughter is now dating her adopted brother, Nick, whom Houston raised alongside her daughter for years. Although there are photos of the two holding hands and kissing, Brown insists they are not an item. "She's a young lady. You know, I would expect her to have a boyfriend." But when asked if Nick is her beau, he initially wavered, saying "I don't think so," before changing his mind to, "Definitely not."

Brown also came clean on his own sobriety. After years of cocaine, marijuana, and heroin use, he insists he has been free of all that for the past seven years, although he does still drink — proven by his recent DUI which happened in the middle of the afternoon. "I do drink," he acknowledged. "I'm not allowed to drink for the next 30 days [per judge's orders]. I do have a cocktail occasionally, you know. I will again, I know that. But I'm seven years clean from narcotics. You know, I'm living — I'm living the life that I want to live."
