Amanda Bynes Driving Badly One Week After DUI Arrest

If there's anything we've learned from watching Lindsay Lohan in the last few years, it's that a celebrity facing legal woes should not drive to the clubs every night to resume partying! There are just too many things that could go wrong, from a hit-and-run in the parking lot to an altercation with someone who's probably been drinking. Not to mention the fact that the bold-faced name should be showing the court and the public that they realize they've made a mistake, and that they're ready to be talked about for their talent again. But somehow, former Nickelodeon cutie Amanda Bynes did not get the message. Since the 26-year-old's April 6 DUI arrest, she's been spotted out twice, including Thursday night when she was caught engaging in some illegal behavior. The former "What I Like About You" star was headed to Greystone Manor — the same place she was seen the night she was arrested — when she was photographed using her phone to text while driving (not allowed in California), then backing up over a curb while an unidentified male was in the passenger seat. Sigh. If she just had to be out, couldn't he have been the designated driver, or couldn't Bynes afford to pay for one?

Rest assured the "Easy A" star is paying dearly for her lawyer in her DUI case. New York Post's Page Six reports she's hired Richard Hutton, who worked with both Paris Hilton and "Prison Break's" Lane Garrison when they faced a judge. Bynes met with Hutton almost immediately after she was released from jail last Friday, according to the newspaper.

Meanwhile, a source tells People that Amanda's had a hard time in the last few years. "She hit a wall personally and professionally [in 2008] ... I think she's been a little lost since then," the source said. Her acting projects since that time have included two TV movies and a part in the 2010 teen comedy "Easy A." She also grabbed headlines when she abruptly retired and then unretired from acting via Twitter in June 2010. Do you think she'll be able to make a comeback?
