Alec Baldwin’s Stalker Leaves Court Smiling, Claims It Is All a ‘Misunderstanding’

For someone who has been court-ordered to stay away from the man she thought she would marry, Alec Baldwin's accused stalker looks like one happy lady. Genevieve Sabourin was all smiles as she left a New York City courthouse on Monday, after being told by a judge to keep her distance from the "30 Rock" star for the next 60 days, an extension of a restraining order that was already in place. "Je t'aime New York," the 40-year-old French-Canadian actress told the New York Post after the hearing. "I love the United States. With my lawyers, we are going to solve this misunderstanding."

But the facts aren't too confusing. Sabourin was arrested on April 8 after attempting to gain access into the Manhattan home Baldwin, 54, shares with his new fiancée, Hilaria Thomas, three times. She also sent him emails asking him to marry her and father her children. According to Baldwin, Sabourin's emails said things like, "I am less than 10 minutes away from you tonight," "Say I do to me," and "I am excited … about creating Genevieve Baldwin."

Sabourin claims that she and the actor had a physical relationship that dates back to 2002 when they met while she was working as a publicist for "The Adventures of Pluto Nash," which starred Eddie Murphy (Baldwin had a very minor role). Court records do show that the pair had dinner in the fall of 2010 and that Baldwin gave the struggling actress advice as a favor to a friend. "My client is not guilty of stalking or harassment," Sabourin's attorney Maurice Sercarz said on Monday. "Once we are able to establish a context for these contacts, we will be able to convince the DA and all involved that the context was legitimate. There's a time and place for everything. The facts will emerge … there was much more to this story than appeared in the media."

Sabourin is due back in court on July 26.
