While Justin Bieber lives in Calabas, his monkey has moved to "Mally-bu."
Mally, the 19-year-old pop star's former pet capuchin, reportedly moved into his own enclosure at the Serengeti Park zoo in Hodenhagen in northern Germany on Wednesday. The enclosure has been dubbed "Mally-bu."
"Mally is a clever little guy, and we're confident that he will settle in quickly," Fabrizio Sepe, managing director of the park, told the Associated Press.
You may remember when the 6-month-old primate was left behind by the Biebs in March, after he failed to produce the primate's papers when he arrived in Germany for his European tour. According to the AP, Mally was taken to the zoo after a brief stay at a Munich animal shelter.
CBC reported last month that Mally arrived at the zoo, located 160 km west of Berlin, on May 26 and spent three weeks in quarantine before he was set to be introduced to six other monkeys — three male and three female.
"We are making all necessary preparations in order to ensure that Mally has the best possible transition to his new home and has no problems integrating with others of his species," Sepe said in a statement at the time, adding, "Mally is from a totally different breed group. This diversification is a great advantage for the further development of our existing group of monkeys."
In April, the Humane Society of the United States accused Bieber of being "out of control" for having Mally, a 19th-birthday present. Though the "Boyfriend" singer had four weeks to deliver his pet's papers to Germany, he never did (and may face a sizable cost for his decision). The monkey's ownership was transferred to German authorities on May 21.
