Check out ‘Orphan Black’ star Tatiana Maslany’s Grade 8 graduation photo

The TV world is currently buzzing with the name Tatiana Maslany, the Regina-born 27-year-old star of the Canadian sci-fi drama “Orphan Black.” Earlier this month, the actress unexpectedly won the Critics' Choice Television Award for best actress, beating out Claire Danes, Vera Farmiga, Keri Russell, Elisabeth Moss, and Julianna Margulies. Ever since, Emmy rumours have been swirling.

On “Orphan Black,” Maslany plays a series of clones trying the discover the mystery of their identity. And since it’s her breakout role, audiences only know her as serious, tough, and dramatic characters. But her home and native land of Canada won’t let the world forget about her adorable childhood days.

#throwbackthursday: Tatiana Maslany's grade 8 grad photo - love it so much, it's our twitter avatar! #PictureDay #tbt,” wrote the Twitter account for “Picture Day,” a Canadian film that Maslany starred in last year.

The photo shows a beaming 'tween-age Maslany looking like the perfect middle school grad on picture day, complete with round glasses, a white collar, a green-and-yellow sash and bright red roses. Her long hair has only a hint of the curls that are now signature to her look, but who could miss those dimples?

“Picture Day” is still proudly broadcasting the school photo on its Twitter account, and hopefully it will stay there for a while. If not for her fans’ enjoyment, then for Emmy committees – surely an actress that can pull off both rough and sweet this well is worthy of an award!
