Last summer, “Call Me Maybe” was the anthem nobody could get sick of — no matter how many lip-synching, choreographed-dancing videos were posted on YouTube. As summer 2013 is about to hit, Mission, B.C.’s biggest hit-maker, Carly Rae Jepsen, marked her big break’s one year anniversary with a change — a hair makeover.

“At the Salon- doing something drastic :)” she mysteriously tweeted last week. Later, she made the big reveal on Instagram – “I've always wanted to go red!”

In the video for “Call Me Maybe,” the 27-year-old pop star was the cute brunette next door. In the photo of her new 'do, she rocks a light summer dress, fashionable boots, dark red hair and a sexy pout. Since the photo already has over 65,000 likes and over 1,100 comments, we have a feeling the world is ready for the new CRJ.

It seems Jepsen's boyfriend, musician Matthew Koma, is a fan, too. The two were spotted roaming around Miami with their arms draped around each other. Jepsen had her new red locks tied back in a low ponytail, but matched with pale pastel shorts and blouse, it was still the boldest part of her look. She’ll be performing this Mother’s Day weekend at the Fontainebleau Hotel, and she’s also busy promoting a new single featuring Nicki Minaj, “Tonight I’m Getting Over You.”

Jepsen is also rumoured to be performing on the finale of “American Idol” on May 16, alongside former contestants Adam Lambert and Jennifer Hudson. Though “Call Me Maybe” was her biggest hit, Jepsen also came in third in the fifth season of “Canadian Idol” in 2007.

It might be time for a new summer anthem, but luckily we’ll probably see a lot more of Jepsen in the next few months — and her new hair!
