Oklahoma lands top in-state recruit Steven Parker

Steven Parker didn't need to wait an additional day for National Signing Day to announce his college decision.

The four-star safety and No. 1 recruit in the state of Oklahoma per Rivals announced he would attend Oklahoma on Tuesday.

According to SoonerScoop.com, Parker, a Jenks, Okla. native, chose Oklahoma over Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Auburn and others. He's rated as the No. 6 safety prospect and No. 53 overall recruit in the country.

His commitment is a big get for the Sooners, who leap to No. 14 in Rivals' 2014 recruiting rankings. He chose Oklahoma after taking his official visit to Auburn last weekend. The move to No. 14 in the Rivals rankings means that Oklahoma jumps Texas and currently has the highest-ranked class of any Big 12 school.

The Sooners currently have 23 players committed in the class of 2014, including five-star recruit Joe Mixon and five other four-stars. Mixon, out of Oakley, Calif., is the No. 1 running back in the country and the No. 8 overall recruit.
