Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan’s Low-Key Honeymoon: Sightseeing and Romantic Strolls

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan had a low-key courtship and wedding, so it's only fitting that their honeymoon is more of the same. Following their May 19 surprise wedding in their Palo Alto backyard, the billionaire and his new bride are celebrating their new life together during a getaway to Italy, where they have been sightseeing, dining out, and stealing romantic moments.

Known for being an understated guy who lives in hooded sweatshirts and, until recently, rented a modest home, the Facebook founder and CEO's honeymoon seems surprisingly normal for a man whose worth is now an estimated $17 billion. The lovebirds have spent much of their trip visiting many of Italy's famed sights, including the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. On Monday, the casually-dressed duo was photographed during a guided tour of the Vatican's Sistine Chapel. At one point, Zuckerberg had his hand on Chan's back as they took in Michelangelo's famed work.

The newlyweds have been spotted dining out at various restaurants, from Nonna Betta, a Kosher restaurant in Rome's Jewish Ghetto, where they reportedly enjoyed a $40 meal, to Pierluigi restaurant, where they were said to have dropped about $150 on an intimate dinner that included a bottle of Chardonnay.

After one of their meals, they casually strolled along the cobblestone streets holding hands.

This is not to say they aren't splurging. The couple reportedly arrived in Italy by private jet and are said to be staying at a five-star hotel called Portrait Suites, where guest rooms start at $1000 a night.

Zuckerberg and Chan, who dated for nine years after meeting at Harvard, invited 100 guests to a party in the backyard of their new, $7 million California home on May 19, leading party-goers to think they were celebrating Chan's recent graduation from medical school. Guests were shocked to see Chan — accompanied by the couple's adopted dog Beast — appear wearing a $4,700 Claire Pettibone wedding gown. After exchanging vows, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who is friends with the couple, performed their first song, "Last Night on Earth."
