After two months of speculation, Martinez finally admitted that he had popped the question to the Oscar winner, his co-star in the shark-themed thriller "Dark Tide," which will hit theaters March 30. "Yes, of course it's true," the French actor said at the opening of his Miami restaurant, Villa Azur, earlier this month. Martinez went on to say that the legendary Parisian jeweler Robert Mazlo, who he described as a "real artist" whose family has been designing "for kings and queens for centuries," created the emerald and yellow-gold stunner.
Martinez met with Mazlo around Christmastime and "said he wanted to produce the most beautiful ring ever made," an insider told the Us Weekly. "Money was no object and he only wanted the finest materials involved." But before he was able to create a "masterpiece" for the twice-divorced Berry, Mazlo reportedly had the actor take a 500-year-old "alchemy test" involving seven questions about his wife-to-be. Once the jeweler "decoded" her favorite shapes, colors, and numbers, he designed a ring custom-made for Berry and her personality. "Olivier was absolutely delighted with the result," the insider says of the "stunning" ring, worth "well into the five figures."
After a string of bad relationships, it's nice to see Halle finally land a great guy!
