George Clooney’s Venice Film Festival Cruise

Every day of George Clooney's life reminds me of that show "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous." The silver fox is either canoodling with a lovely lady, relaxing at his vacation home in Lake Como, Italy, or -- as he did Tuesday -- arriving at the 68th Venice International Film Festival by boat. Of course, The Cloon always surrounds himself with plenty of other beautiful people, and Tuesday was no different: former supermodel Cindy Crawford and her hubby Rande Gerber were among the crowd cruising into the annual event.

As if the actor didn't attract enough attention with his entrance, his movie about a U.S. presidential campaign, "The Ides of March," is scheduled to open the festival on Wednesday. The Oscar winner, 50, directed, wrote, and starred in the flick, alongside Ryan Gosling, Paul Giamatti, and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Not a bad cast, right?

It looks like the handsome star will have more time to spend at his villa soon. E! Online reported that George dropped out of his next project, a big screen version of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," that would have reteamed him with "Ocean's Eleven" director Steven Soderbergh. The website quotes sources close to the film saying that Clooney's old injuries from "Syriana" make it impossible to perform stunts the movie requires. Perhaps George will have time to throw even more soirees, like the one he held over the weekend, with celebrity guests Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Bono, plus Cindy and Rande. Sigh. Can I get an invite?

Until next time then, champagne wishes and caviar dreams!
