Usher wins custody battle against ex-wife

One of the most bitter celebrity custody battles has finally come to an end. After months of nasty accusations on both sides, the all-out war between Usher and his ex-wife Tameka Foster is finally over — and the ruling is somewhat surprising. The "Scream" singer was awarded primary custody of sons Usher Raymond V, 4, and Naviyd, 3, by a judge in Georgia on Friday, despite the fact that Foster testified that Usher often chose his career over his children and that he did drugs in front of them.

Foster, whose 11-year-old son Kile died following a Jet Ski accident over the July 4 weekend, will reportedly still retain some custodial rights of her two boys, but exactly how much is unclear at this point. "It's a relief it's over," an insider tells Us Weekly. "An independent party looked at the evidence and did the right thing."

In early August, Usher, 33, had asked the judge to postpone the hearing following Kile's death because he claimed it would cause him "unnecessary stress and strain." He also added that he felt Foster, 41, would have an unfair advantage if they did not delay the August 13 court date because she would be seen as a mother grieving the loss of her child. But Foster's lawyer retaliated, claiming that Usher's "stress and strain" is "bogus" and that his request is nothing more than "a transparent sham."

During testimony on May 23, Foster's lawyer accused Usher of sleeping with one of his ex-wife's bridesmaids soon after their 2007 wedding, which he denied. The day before that, the "Climax" singer broke down in tears on the stand when Foster's attorney accused him of preferring partying over parenting. Usher was also grilled about his drug use. Although he testified that he has smoked pot, his lawyer objected to further questioning about the drug ecstasy.

She may have lost the custody battle, but it doesn't seem like the war is over for Foster. Not long after the ruling on Friday, she tweeted, "Money can buy many things... But in the end. Truth & goodness will prevail. I must continue to believe this. Stand firm."
