We already know Chris Brown can sing, dance, throw chairs, and sell puppies — but were you aware he's an artist, too? The R&B star debuted his limited-edition toy and sculpture line with famed artist Ron English, called Dum English, on Wednesday at Toy Art Gallery in L.A., and then showed off his contemporary pop art later that night at the Corey Helford Gallery. At the exhibit, the creative duo even tag-team painted a life-size astronaut sculpture for the guests in attendance.
"Hands down right now my guy is Ron English," Brown said in a statement. "Ron has to be the more creative, 'out there' artist I see. His work is so precise but at the same time so unorthodox. I think it's incredible to be able to see him do what he does and be a fan." The proceeds of Dum English will go to Brown's Symphonic Love foundation, which provides funding for arts programs dedicated to women and the artistic development of children.
Brown, 22, is also prepping the release of his other art, his fifth album, Fortune, which has been pushed back a number of times since his record company folded into RCA last December. On April 22, he announced on Twitter that the disc will now hit shelves on July 3 and will feature Nas, will.i.am, and Wiz Khalifa. Its lead single, "Turn Up the Music," which was produced by the Underdogs — featuring Kim Kardashian's first husband, Damon Thomas — was released in February and peaked at No. 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
