Selma Blair recently gave birth to her son, Arthur Saint. And while Blair, 39, is overjoyed at her new addition, she is also experiencing a few side effects from the birth of her bundle of joy.
In a recent interview with People magazine, Blair remarked, "This is so not glamorous, but it's true: I need to take longer showers so that I can collect the hair that falls out and throw it away so I don't clog the drain. Why do actresses never talk about that?"
Blair went on to explain that the hair loss started when her son was about three months old. "I'm not a girl who likes extensions," she told People. "So Selma's going to be bald."
This isn't the first time that Blair has gone the honest route in talking about her postbaby life. Back in September, the actress said that she hadn't lost any weight since she left the hospital in July. "I still weigh the exact same number. I haven't really been focusing on that at all, because I've been running around to different things like Toronto (International Film Festival) and Venice (Film Festival)."

An article on BabyCenter explains the science behind the hair loss. Like many other pregnancy issues, it's all about hormone changes. "Normally, you lose about 100 to 125 hairs a day, but after delivery, you may be losing about 500 a day." According to BabyCenter, it takes about six to nine months for hair to get back to its normal thickness.
