Rachel Zoe’s son, Skyler, is off and running

Rachel Zoe may have to reconsider her footwear now that her son, Skyler, is mobile. The 1-year-old showed off his running skills yesterday while out in Los Angeles — and, boy, was he quick!

The wavy-haired little guy — dressed adorably (natch!) in plaid overalls, brown fisherman sandals, and an orange beaded necklace — was hard to keep up with as he stayed a few steps ahead of his celebrity stylist mom on Thursday afternoon. He appeared to crack himself up as he ran around following a lunch date with a group of other mothers and their children.

For her day out with her son, the 40-year-old star of Bravo's "The Rachel Zoe Project" was dressed head to toe in black. Of course that included a pair of at least 5-inch strappy wedge heels -- after all, she did famously declare, "It's not as though you are going to catch me in flats now that I am a mom!" She was also driving a Range Rover in the same hue.

Zoe — who married Rodger Berman in 1996 but waited until she was nearly 40 to start a family — recently shared two pieces of advice for women considering having children. "The first is: Don't wait!" she told Glamour. "I missed the window of being a young mom (I was 39), and I'm super envious of my friends who had kids earlier than I did because they can take their time and choose to have another child (or several!) if they want. The second: Remember that there are many paths to motherhood. What's right for you might be adopting, or finding a surrogate, or maybe your version of motherhood is just being the best aunt ever. The point is that the path is in your hands."

Earlier this week Zoe expanded her business by launching a jewelry line, which is available exclusively at Neiman Marcus. "It's fancy but it's not... I've never been subtle," Zoe told the Los Angeles Times earlier this week, describing the collection whose pieces range in price from $195 to $650. Although she favors big pieces of jewelry, the line will broaden to include smaller pieces — inspired by some gifts she received following the birth of her son. "For me, I have never stopped wearing big jewelry, some bigger than my appendages," she told the paper. "But it's not for everybody. And since my son has been born, there are more delicate things that I sleep in and don't take off. Anita Ko made me a necklace that's a vertical bar engraved with my son Skyler's name and birth date, and Hilary Tisch made me a couple of delicate pieces with his name on them too."

When Zoe debuts her latest collection at New York Fashion Week in September, she will include some of the jewelry on her runway models. And we're sure it won't be long until we see photos of little Skyler decked out in some of the more unisex pieces as well...that is, if photographers can keep up with him long enough to snap his picture.
