Mel Gibson loses his temper during ice cream outing with Lucia

Mel Gibson's temper is legendary, and some photographers got to witness it up close when they interrupted the actor while he was spending quality time with his daughter Lucia.

While the father of eight was getting a sweet treat with his youngest child at Malibu Yogurt and Ice Cream on Monday, he became irate when he saw photographers snapping photos of them through the window. Looking a bit like Simon Cowell with his shirt half-way unbuttoned, Gibson left Lucia with a nanny and stormed outside to have words with the shutterbugs. The actor — who recently joked on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" that he has "a little bit of a temper" — was not a happy camper during the confrontations, but eventually cooled down and returned inside.

Despite the fuss, Lucia — whose mother is Gibson's ex-fiancée Oksana Grigorieva — seemed to be enjoying herself while out with dad. Dressed in jeans and a butterfly shirt, the 2-year-old happily devoured her ice cream. She definitely appears to be a fan of chocolate.

Gibson's custody battle with Russian singer-songwriter Grigorieva over the little girl was famously nasty. The settlement, which was finalized a year ago, stipulated that Lucia must receive the same financial benefits as Gibson's seven children from his first marriage, and a trust was established for her. Gibson also had to pay Grigorieva $750,000.

With those days behind him, the 56-year-old has apparently been spending time with someone new. Multiple reports state he has been "getting cozy" with Nadia Lanfranconi, an aspiring singer who moved to the United States from Italy in 2007. They've been seen shopping together and having a sushi date in Los Angeles.

Let's hope photographers don't get too close during their next date!
