Kelsey Grammer and wife Kayte welcome a daughter, mourn the loss of her twin brother

It's a bittersweet day for Kelsey Grammer and his wife Kayte. In the early hours of Friday morning, the couple welcomed a daughter, Faith Evangeline Elisa, who weighed in at 6 pounds, 2 ounces. "We are thrilled," the couple announced in a statement. "Mother and child are in excellent health." The happy news also came with a heavy heart since Kayte lost the son she was also carrying shortly after she and the "Boss" star revealed their double joy earlier this year. "This was not something we cared to make known publicly at the time," Grammer, 57, and Kayte, 31, added. "It was unspeakably painful and we know that people will understand our desire to keep the news private then, as we know they will respect our privacy in this matter now. A glorious birth with a lingering sadness is ours today. We choose to celebrate the life that has been given us. We proudly introduce our Faith to the world today looking forward to the days ahead and the children yet to come."

This is not the first time the Grammers have faced heartbreak in their efforts to start a family. Kayte miscarried in October 2010, just three months after they first debuted their relationship, which began while he was still married to "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Camille Grammer, with whom he has two children. Despite the setback, they got engaged two months later and said "I do" in February 2011. Last month, they renewed their vows in Las Vegas.

Faith is not the only baby in the Grammer household. The actor's 28-year-old daughter, actress Spencer Grammer, gave birth to a son, Emmett Emmanuel, last October … so that makes Kelsey both a father and a grandfather of a child under the age of 1.
