Although she might have a little less money to spend these days, Kelis appeared to be having a great time while shopping with a friend and her adorable 22-month-old son Knight in Los Angeles over the weekend.
According to TMZ, the "Milkshake" singer found herself back in court with her ex-hubby Nas a couple of weeks ago, where the rapper managed to convince the judge that the economy has hurt his earning potential. As a result, instead of sending a check to Kelis for a little over $50K per month, the MC now only needs to write one for about $25K. Chump change for a celeb.
While the former hip-hop couple's divorce was pretty messy, Kelis -- who filed for divorce from Nas after four years of marriage and two months before giving birth to their son -- told Us Weekly last summer that everything is now fine between she and her ex. "We are divorced, but there is no point to fighting -- there is nothing to fight about. I am super happy; my life is awesome. We are friends, we get along now and it's all good."
Also good is the fact that being Knight's mom has simply made Kelis a better person. "Motherhood has made me more selfless and emotional," she said in December. "Motherhood changes the way you look at people and human life. Babies make you more human. No matter how much it was explained to me, I didn't understand the strength of my feelings for him. He literally brings me joy."
