Heidi Klum: My kids must ‘always look cool’

Heidi Klum is a supermodel, so it's only natural that she'd pass along her great sense of style to her children, but the Klum family seems to take looking good to another level.

During a conference call promoting her new season of "Project Runway," which premieres tonight on Lifetime at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the mom of four (Leni, 8, Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2) told reporters: "We have a rule in the house. Rule No. 1 is always to look cool, and rule No. 2 is don't forget about rule No. 1. We have other rules … but the No. 1 rule is to always look cool."

We hope she's joking.

According to Klum, her two oldest children — Leni and Henry — take the tenet "very seriously. Henry changes clothes 10 times a day and he wants to be very cool," she shared. "I mean, he would wear a T-shirt and then he will wear a tie just around his neck, knotted, and then a belt over his shirt. He [has] very unusual ways of dressing where I'm like, 'Really? You want to put the belt over your T-shirt and the tie around your neck?' And he's like, 'Yes, mom. I'm cool.' "

Of course, the Klum kids aren't the only fashion-conscious children in Hollywood. Gwen Stefani's oldest son, 6-year-old Kingston Rossdale, has been a trendsetter since he came out of the womb. (At age 5, he even made GQ's list of the 30 Most Stylish Men Under 30 in 2011!) And in 2010, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith's daughter Willow, now 11, became not only known for her catchy tune, "Whip My Hair," but for her unique sense of style as well. "I'm more on the edgy side, but my style kind of comes from the music I listen to," she revealed in a recent interview with "The Yo Show."

And when discussing mini fashionistas, you can't forget 6-year-old Suri Cruise! According to Katie Holmes, her daughter has always been obsessed with what she wears. "She picks out all of her own clothes and has since she was one and a half," the actress once told New York magazine. But if a recent tabloid report is true, Suri's days as the reigning style princess of celebrity spawn may soon be coming to an end. The U.K.'s Reveal magazine claims that Suri's mom has decided to put the kibosh on her daughter's designer threads. "Katie has been returning unsolicited gifts and loans from designers for Suri since she arrived in New York," a source told the mag. "She's issued to remove Suri from all freebie lists. She's also put the word out in L.A. to stop any mini-me diva products being sent her way." The source added that Holmes' ex Tom Cruise was responsible for Suri's stylish wardrobe (which has been estimated to be worth $3 million), but that Holmes feels the look is not suitable for a little girl. "All that inappropriate dress up and make-up was down to Tom, and Katie's key word now when it comes to Suri is 'normal.' Tom loved to spoil Suri and indulge her, but Katie has other ideas."

Fortunately, if the report is true, we're sure that Suri can find some cute, affordable ensembles in the Old Navy kids' department. If not, as Klum says every week on "Project Runway," "In fashion, one day you're in and the next day ... you're out."
