Courteney Cox and her daughter Coco make a splash in NYC

During a fun day out in New York City on Sunday, Courteney Cox and her daughter found themselves caught in a downpour, but the ladies didn't let the bad weather dampen their spirits.

After picking up some goodies at Ricky's, a chain of beauty supply stores in the Big Apple, the 48-year-old "Cougar Town" star and Coco, 8, found themselves in the middle of a super soaker — without an umbrella. Pedestrians around them immediately took cover in doorways to wait out the storm, but not Cox and Coco. They made a run for it!

Though they both smiled through the pouring rain, Coco appeared to be having the time of her life. Following a few steps behind her famous mother, she flashed a toothy grin as she practically danced through the raindrops wearing a fringed smiley face T-shirt, jean shorts, and flip flops — a look her eclectically styled father, David Arquette, would surely be proud of.

While Cox and Arquette work through their divorce — they each filed papers separately in June — they continue to have an amicable relationship. Just days after they moved to legally end their marriage, they were spotted together as a family having lunch at Paradise Cove in Malibu, California. Their reunion took place on Cox's birthday, but they were also celebrating Coco, who had turned 8 a few days before. Cox, Arquette, and their only child even came and left in the same car.

On the professional front, Cox's struggling sitcom, "Cougar Town," will have a new home when it returns to the airwaves. Since ABC opted not to renew the comedy, it's moving over to TBS for its fourth season. Rumor has it that Cox, who directed two "Cougar Town" episodes in 2012, wants to take on more directing duties. We bet that smiley-faced Coco will make a lot of visits to the set, too!
