Taylor Swift gives big gift to deaf school that was the victim of prank

Taylor Swift really does have a problem with "Mean" people!

The 22-year-old singer has donated $10,000 and concert tickets to a bunch of kids who were the victims of a recent prank. Papa John's Pizza and Chegg, a company that offers textbooks for rent, sponsored a contest last month in which the school with the most votes on Facebook would win a live performance by Swift. Some voters from the websites 4chan and Reddit thought it would be funny if the students at the Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Boston scored the grand prize, so they voted for the school. Then, other people heard about the mean-spirited joke and also voted for Horace Mann. After all the drama, the school was deemed ineligible in the contest, but was a big winner in the end. In addition to Swift's $10,000 gift, each student at the school will receive a ticket to her next local concert. The school also received $10,000 from each of the contest sponsors, as well as CoverGirl and American Greetings, two companies Swift works for as a spokeswoman. VH1's Save the Music foundation is also awarding the school $10,000 worth of musical instruments.

And for the record, Horace Mann's principal, Jeremiah Ford, said his students love live music. Even those who are 100 percent deaf can experience the vibration of sound, he told The Boston Globe. ""Are we the winner? Absolutely," he said.

Swift's good deed comes just as she's gearing up for the October 22 release of her new album, Red. On Monday, she was spotted filming the music video for the ballad "Begin Again" on the streets of the City of Light. "Shooting a music video in Paris today... (always wanted to say that!!)" she tweeted. The clip called for Swift to get cozy with a male model, although off-camera she's still going strong with her 18-year-old beau Conor Kennedy. Then Tuesday, she released the title track from her new album. What do you think?
