Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘Hunger Games’ Character Katniss Becomes a Barbie

"The Hunger Games" has already etched a place in movie history, earning more than $460 million worldwide since it opened March 23. Now its star Jennifer Lawrence is being immortalized in another way: Mattel has turned her character, Katniss Everdeen, into a Barbie doll. Of course, this isn't your average Barbie, wearing a sparkly pink gown or bright red lipstick. Like "The Hunger Games" heroine in the books and movie, the doll version of Katniss is designed to be pretty badass! She's decked out in the outfit she wears during the movie's fighting scene, with her signature mockingjay pin on her lapel and her trusty bow and arrow slung over her back. The doll's designer Bill Greening told Entertainment Weekly that his team examined Lawrence's actual costume from the film to make sure every aspect of the toy was perfect. "The doll's minimalistic style and details — such as her loosely braided hair and makeup-free look — also really embody the heroic character Katniss," he told EW.

Lawrence knew going into this project that the role of Katniss would make her part of pop culture history. She's even confessed that she almost walked away from it because of that! "I needed three days [to decide], I guess, to kiss my personal life away," she told the Los Angeles Times. "I wanted to iron everything out so that when my life was completely flipped upside-down and different, it was because I thought everything through."

Lawrence's many fans can now pre-order the Barbie for $29.95 at BarbieCollector.com before it's set to be released on August 1. However, you'll have to wait a little longer for the next "Hunger Games" movie, "Catching Fire," which hits theaters on November 22, 2013.
